today I am wearing...

I bought this Basque dress from Myer yesterday. I like the vibrant colour block contrast and the classic, nipped in at the waist design. But. Now I'm not so sure. Ever since Mr S said I looked like an flight attendant! I guess it does look a little like a uniform... So now I'm undecided.  I hate it when that happens...

spring trends...

I must say (so I will), I really like the new Spring Season trends. There is so much to choose from. Pretty much anything goes, so long as it's pastel, patterned, bright and colourful! Classic 50s style silhouettes are key, as are simple A-line shifts, and the must-have peplum waist is still popular - hooray!

I have put together a few items that I would really like to get my hands on! I absolutely love the hot pink Zara heels - that thin straight stiletto is fantastic!

Today I am wearing...

It's not so nippy today, so I can put on a dress - hurrah!

Today I have opted for my Camilla & Marc for Portmans dress, with a thin black leather M&S belt. I don't normally wear this dress during the day, as the back is very low (more a night time number), so I've added my Target Hot Options jacket as a cover-up for work and my lovely Tony Bianco nude heels. Sorted.

I like this dress as it can be dressed up or down just by changing the belt and shoes colour. I haven't worn it for ages, I must wear it more often.

BAFTA tv fashion red carpet...

Once again I'm disappointed by the lack of stand out style and glamour on the red carpet!  I'm talking about the UK's BAFTA TV Awards, held last night in London.

It's just one long line of boring, been-done-before dresses, in dull not-particularly-flattering colours (fake tan beige and snot green for example).

EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa. Such an old frumpy dress for such a pretty girl!

Inbetweener Laura Haddock's boring dress in phlegm green
Downton Abbey's lovely Joanne Froggatt's dress is nice but looks like something I'd wear to bed!

TV Presenter Zoe Hardman is my favourite! Love this sunny yellow dress. Old style elegance and glamour.

today I am wearing...

This is the third dress in the same style, from Basque, that I own and absolutely love. You'll have to scroll through my 'today I am wearing' posts to find the other two... (one is black and white gingham, the other in a pink pattern print).

This style is retro and feminine and feels so good on. I just adore the rustle and flounce of the fabric.  As it's a bit fresh this morning I have added a short black cardigan, to keep me warm.  And an extra strand of pearls due to the low neck line.  My heels are Diana Ferrari Signature.

wedding fever

My lovely niece gets married in December. It's all very exciting.

Especially the pre-wedding what to wear, excuse to go shopping.

I love trying on pretty dresses, and have to use such will power not to buy them all! But yesterday, I think, I found my dress...

It's from Review and it's the perfect Aunty-of-the-Bride dress. Classic fitted shape (for that hour glass silhouette), knee skimming length, a dusky pale pink (so not to stand out too much) with a little sparkle, applique and a few sequins to jazz it up a bit...

And I already have the perfect matching heels...

So what do you think? Wedding hit or maybe keep shopping?

today I am wearing...

I'm off in to the city for a shopping and lunch date. Very exciting. I haven't been to the city for a month or so I'm looking forward to the hustle and bustle and the opportunity to do a bit of people watching... So. I'm wearing my navy polka dot dress with red twist belt and Keds wedges. You've seen this outfit before. But you know, sometimes a girl can't afford to only wear and outfit once.

today I am wearing...

All the celebs are wearing lace, so today I thought I'd join them.

This
Edina Ronay black lace dress is worn over a satin slip and has a thick ribbon sash belt, under the bust. I can never decide on whether this dress is a tad frumpy or not, so I've chucked on a silver Miglio cross with my pearls to glam it up a bit.

I don't own many chunky heels, as I prefer stilettos, but I don't mind these square heeled purple shoes from
Diana Ferrari.

PS.... To the fat, frumpy mother who told a friend at school yesterday that she 'looked ridiculous' for wearing a red dress and heels to collect her kids (she'd been at a tea party) - up yours you snotty cow! Some of us love to look good!

today I am wearing...

Another glorious day, so I felt like wearing red.

This dress reminds me of the colour of cocktail cherries.  Made from a light crepe satin, with ruffles at the neck and a belt to nip in the waist.  Perfect for work. The heels have to be nude, any other colour with this dress would be too much. So there you have it.

new york met ball 2012... the hits

NY Met Ball 2012 continued...

I have to say there aren't many fashion standouts (for the right reasons anyway) this year. It's very disappointing. I have been shaking my head in dispair all afternoon.

Rachel Zoe looked like a limp cheap lamp shade (and she really needs to eat!). Alicia Keys looked like she'd shat herself in terrible trousers that made her bottom half look like a goat with trotters!  Liv Tyler looked like her dad in a sequined dungeree dress. Karolina Kurkova's swimming cap-hat was just too OTT (I do like the dress though). Poor Beyoncé had her nude pull-it-all-in granny pants on display. The others? All pretty dull really.

But here you are... my Met Ball Hit List. There's only four!

Rosario Dawson
LOVE this leather dress! Hot. Hot. Hot.
Katherine McPhee
Classy. Love the orange, the cleavage and the belt.

Amy Adams
Lovely, light and floaty and feminine.
Jessica Alba

new york met ball 2012

It's that time of year again - the prestigious, glitzy New York Met Ball.  Held on Monday night. There are always stars galore and usually quite a few eyesores too. And this year is no exception.  Once again, I am totally underwhelmed.

Here is my top eight Miss List.

Oh my God - how awful are these outfits?! What were they thinking?! There seems to be a penchant texture this year... we have it all animal, insect, duck and reptile.

Kristen Stewart.
Where the hell do I start?! An real eyesore!
Cate Blachett
Black swan?  Reminds me of Bjork. Nightmare.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Bumble bee wannabe? I Hate this furry-body look.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Normally so perfect. This does nothing for you luv!

Chloe Sevigny
Come on!!! Are you off your head?!
Carey Mulligan
I used to dress my Barbie dolls in tin foil like this!
Eva Mendes
Look like her mum made her this!

Rihanna
Lizard lady croc skin effect overkill!

today I am wearing...

It's a beautiful, sunny day. So I'm wearing a summer dress to celebrate.  I love gingham, and this black and white 50s housewife style dress is one of my favs.

My black patent pointy stilettos are really high and squash my toes - but who cares?  They look flippin great!

H&M conscious collection

I wish, wish, wish we had H&M in Oz! I really like the new Conscious Collection. But once again I have to miss out on this ultra cool high street fashion. Humpff!

Ginnifer Goodwin looked so lovely in this eco-friendly Glamour Conscious Collection dress that she wore to the White House this week. Only 1000 of this dress were made - with limited edition numbering. Pretty cool for $299! I could definitely see myself wearing this - I love that she has added the belt too. The perfect simple accessory.

All the clothes are made from organic, recycled or sustainable fabric, and there are some fabulous designs. Take a look... I'll have one of each please.

today I am wearing...

What a lovely day for the first day of May! The sun is out and it's warm and just beautiful.

So today I have on my black and white spotty dotty dress. It's light and floaty and made of a soft chiffon-type fabric. The only thing I don't like is having to wear a strapless bra. Soooo uncomfortable (I'll whip it off as soon as I get home)! Worn with my Tony Bianco nude heels and my pearls (of course).

dinner at the white house... the hits

White House Correspondence Dinner 2012  As the stars eat up and mingle, here are my red carpet hits...

Leslie Mann. My favourite. I want this dress!

Elizabeth Banks.  Love the red!

Kate Hudson. Cool purple shimmery sequins!

Zooey Deschanel. So pretty.

red carpet boob!

Rosario Dawson - what have you done to your boobs?  They look awful!  Stuck in a very strange position, they almost look upside down... and that dress babe, all shiny and squashed - it does nothing for you (although it is lovely colour).  It's a definite no from me!

Boobs gone wrong or what?!

Rosario, honey NOT one of your best moments!

today I am wearing...

What a chilly morning! A cardie required to keep warm.  Autumn is definitely here.  I really don't like feeling cold...

Today I'm wearing a 50's inspired black taffeta dress from Basque, with bow detail at the waist. My plum cardigan and matching patent Steve Madden heels.

today I am wearing...

I woke to such a beautiful morning, that I couldn't help but choose this pretty turquoise summer dress from Review. It feels great on due to the silky, satin lining. It also softly swishes from side to side as I walk along wiggling my hips. Worn with my glass beads and nude heels.

today I am wearing...

It's a housework day. So a gun metal grey, satin frilled dress it is. It's light and silky and looks a treat with my rubber gloves. Oh, and my pearls of course.
