oscar red carpets hits

So the award season for 2014 is at an end. I watched the Oscars and 'worked' at the same time (so I could skip all the boring bits). I was impressed this year, the only real clanger on the red carpet was Liza Minnelli, who looked like a clown, oh and Goldie Hawn, who's face now resembles a scary plastic surgery addicts mask, why oh why hasn't she just let herself grow old gracefully? She would have been beautiful. Anyway, I digress...

The red carpet was awash with glamorous gowns. Top marks ladies!

Here are my personal favourites, just seven of them. In order, as follows:

#1 Kim Kardashian looks AMAZING!
I hate to give her my top position,
but she looks incredible in this red Celia K
ball gown. Look at her boobs! Breathtaking.
#2 Cate Blanchett looks flawless. A golden
goddess. I adore this dress and the
earrings are gorgeous!

#3 Lupito looks stunning, a real Disney
princess in this ice blue Prada gown. Beautiful.

#4 Kate Hudson looks old time
glamour puss in this sexy retro
draped Versace dress. Gorgeous!

#5 Amy Adams. I just love her. Simple, classy, perfect,
in navy Gucci Premiere.

#6 Naomi Watts looks sleek and slim in this
pretty white beaded Calvin Klein Collection dress.

#7 Angelina Jolie gives us a
tantalising glimpse of her new
boobs under this Elie Saab
Couture slinky beaded number.
It's a bit of a granny dress really,
but she's Angie, she can wear
whatever she bloody likes!

today I am wearing...

My $18 'DFO' outfit.

I'm a little old to be wearing a dress like this, but when I'm just hanging at home I don't really care. It's comfy and summery and it keeps me cool. It was one of my bargain $5 Supre dresses, I've actually worn it a lot.

Today, for popping over to a friends for coffee and gossip, I've added my new patent nude Diavolina wedges, bought at DFO a week or so ago for only $8!!!  I'm so glad I got them. I still can't believe they were $8 (down from $129)!

today I am wearing...

Saturday night Mr S and I went for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and his birthday. I wore my new midnight black (which means navy) Cue dress. I must say I do love it. It's such a classic, wearable design and it fits like a glove. The only slight bummer is that it seems to attract cat hairs... a problem when you have two fat, hairy, cats that slob around the house.

I had intended on wearing my Louboutin's, but I ended up with blisters on my little toes after my earlier (see post below) shopping trip (I found out that my new Diavolina wedges rub, grrrr)! So on with my go-with-everything Tony Bianco' Alamo' tan sandals, and a little red lippy... I have never worn lipstick, I feel weird in it, but I like it on (some) people, so thought I'd give it a go out in public...

today I am wearing...

I haven't done a what-I'm-wearing post for a while. I've been good, I've resisted the shops. It's too hard to clothes/shoe shop during the school holidays. The kids have been off for almost two months, but back to school today, so life can go back to normal... With it the good (coffee with girlfriends, relaxing shopping trips and peace) and the bad (horrible early mornings, packed lunches to make and the school runs, ugh).

I did buy two dresses over the holiday period though and this is one of them, from Portmans (the other one is from Cue). I like the blue/green palm print and easy fit and flare style. It was $49 marked down from $99.

tits t shirt

I soooo want one of these!

Vivienne Westwood's Tits T-Shirt! Originally designed in 1975 for Vivienne and Malcolm's SEX shop, it's been reprinted for the Special Edition Collection, available at the World's End, London store, or online (for $125).

Cool! I wonder who's boobs they are, they look a little implanty to me... no matter!

SAGs the worst

Not doing it for me. Not doing it for me at all.

Clare Danes looks like she's in a school play. Mariah looks like a 90s prostitute. Ms Matthew McConaughey looks like she's draped herself in a cheap shiny mustard bedsheet (and I just can't stand Camillia's bloody eyebrows)! Kerry Washington looks ridiculous, like an overstuffed doll (yes, yes, I know she's up the duff and normally looks flawless). Sandy Bullock is wrapped in a Quality Street mint-chic wrapper (with boring shoes), and finally Cate perfect Blanchett looks like she's wearing the downstairs loo towel holder.

Very disappointed.

the not so golden globes...

Here's the 'oh dear' list... Not good looks pretty ladies.  Not good looks at all...

Doesn't Heidi Klum seem to just pop up
everywhere these days? Was she even invited?
She looks a tad cowgirl/home applique/
skank in this Marchesa ensemble. Too much.

This is what happens when you cross artificial
flowers from a retro swim cap with a 90s sleeveless
jacket made out of an old shower curtain! Sorry
Ms Bejo, it's a "No" from me.

Zoe, Zoe, Zoe. Very disapointed!  Positives first.

Love the shoes! Louboutin Pigalles. Smart choice.
The dress however? YUK!  What the hell is it?! Awful.
Prabal Gurung, you were obviously pissed when you
designed this one! Playgroup sticky craft table gone
horribly wrong...

Julia hon, I knew you'd wear something safe,
but why oh why did you wreck the classic D&G
strapless dress with an old fucking business shirt?!
It just makes me angry ANGRY!

Front view of Emma Watson's boring back to front dress...

Back view of this bizarre combo. Leggings?!
Easy access for a quick shag at the after party
perhaps, that might work...

Paula Patton thought her bedsheets would make a
good over the shoulder throw/snuggie... handy if she gets
bored or too drunk and nods off.

Dior was obviously having an off day when he designed this dull number.
What's with the hip band? They way it bags out in a puff around the arse.
Ugh. Ugly, boring, way too meringue like.

And Jen PLEASE grow back our hair!

golden globes

I've been off blogging for a bit. Christmas and New Year and my Dad finally passing away into his endless sleep all got in the way and to be honest I just didn't feel like it or have much to say...

But it's the Golden Globes!

Of course I'm watching! I love the glitz and glamour. All the lovely dresses and stars. How can I resist selecting my favourite red carpet looks?! So far I must say I haven't seen any shockers (actually Jen Law looks the a meringue - very disappointing!).

Here are my top looks (in no particular order)...

Sofia does old time big busted glamour beautifully in this over-the-top-but-I-love-it,
Zac Posen gown. And that necklace? It looks fabulous nestled above those
quivering, don't you want to rest your face in them, boobs!

Emma Roberts gets 10/10.  I LOVE IT ALL! Perfect.

Kate Beckinsale never puts a foot wrong. Love this hot metallic strapless
Zuhair Murad dress.

Classy ice queen Cate looks simply perfect in Armani Prive.
Amy Adams, my girl crush, I love you Miss Hottie, in Valentino

Lovely Leslie Mann all coy and ready to be unwrapped!

Lupia Nyong'o simple and stunning in red Ralph Lauren.

Sandra Bullock looking flawless in Prabal Gurung. Didn't like it at first but now I do,
it moves beautifully and sets her cleavage off a treat (even if it is a bit
Liquorice Allsort inspired...)

today I am wearing...

Happy Monday peeps. The weekend went way to quick. I gorged myself on too much food and over did it.  Lime and passion fruit cheesecake, custard filled profiteroles, crispy seaweed, and such a mouth wateringly good curry - yum! (Not so good the morning after when I felt like curry stench was seeping out of all my pores!)

To hide my gluttony, today I am wearing dress two (of four) from the Supre $5 Sale. This one is so super comfy on (and I don't need a bra which is always a bonus). I am fighting the urge to go back and see if I missed any other $5 bargain styles... I must stay strong. I don't need any more!

green stilettos

I love Reece in these green heels at TIFF. The shoes totally make the outfit. The dress is nice too. She looks good. A little less mumsy than normal. A thumbs up from me.

I am complete

They came!!!! F**k! I have my beautiful babies! And I LOVE them!!!! The anxious wait was SO worth it! And now they are here!!! I was almost afraid to open the box...

They are so high and so sexy and just a perfect, beautiful, classic, most gorgeous pair of heels ever!

I can't stop looking at them. And standing around in front of the mirror in them. My own pair of Christian Louboutin Pigalle 120s!!! Mine! All mine!

The fit perfectly. One of the only Louboutin styles that are made true to size. But blimey they really are sky high! They are my highest pair. It's like walking on your tippy toes. Will I wear them out? Not yet. I need to savour them for a while...

A massive thank you again to all my lovely friends who enabled me to own the dream! This birthday present will not be beaten.

Xxx

My beautiful red soled heels. I still can't believe they are mine!

tidy shoes, tidy mind

In preparation for my new Christian Louboutin Pigalle 120s. My dream heels, my wonderful birthday present (from my lovely friends), the absolute ultimate shoe (which are still in transit from Hong Kong... the wait is slowly killing my I can tell you! It's like waiting for an adopted baby that I've yearned for so long). My dear husband suggested tidying up my shoe area... They were encroaching on Mr S's space and I have to admit, my heels were getting a little rammed in and messy. So the other night, I went up to our bedroom to discover new shoe racks! Yay! Plenty of room for shoes any maybe more shoes!  Umm, or so I thought...

So where to begin?!  I had to pull all my shoes out, then... well, then I just sat there admiring them all, surrounded by my beauties, trying them all on again.  And I realised this would be no easy task. It would take me ages. And it did. Not because I have too many pairs (you can never have too many pairs of shoes!), just because I had to try and put them in some kind of order and ranking, and of course reminisce about each pairs story. The thrill and excitement of the purchase and then the good times shared...

I finally did it. The result is a nice neat, orderly wardrobe. But, I literally have no free space for more! Ugh. And my knee high boots are still up on another shelf and day to day casual shoes are still downstairs in a different shoe rack.  And where are my Louboutin's going to go? Maybe I'll just keep them by my bed, so I can look at them and touch them. Yes, I think they'll need a special place all of their own.

Before.  A floor full of shoes...
After. Nice and tidy, but no free space for more shoes!!!

a couple of hits and a whole lot of flops!

Yes, I'm talking the MTV VMA's held yesterday in New York. Deary dear. Quite a few absolute shockers on the red carpet, but then that's to be expected isn't it. These musos know how to get people talking (especially if they have no real talent) by donning awful outfits. There is no accounting for taste. The fame goes to their heads.

The hits

I'm not loving the flap, but for little Selena,
this is a good look. I like the colour and bustier

As much as Ms Swift annoys me
(with her 'I love my cutesy-pie-self' vibe)
she looks good. Sexy but classy.

Jen Hudson gets it right in gingham, leather
and pointy heels

I love Gaga in this leather number,
she looks hot and oddly normal

The flops!

Holland Roden. Drawn curtains anyone?
Open! Shut! Open! Shut!  A shame because, as
either a skirt or trouser suit this outfit would look
great, just not both together!

Erin, what the hell can I say?! A droopy, sheer,
wrinkled, turbaned, rats tailed, bloody mess!

Gold leaf overload! Iggy Azalea pretends to be
an Oscar statue. I think she's confused. Tacky.

Ciara, I just keep seeing a Shire horse mixed
with Elvis...  It's the feathery hoofs and the
glittery embellishments. Neigh!

Oh dear! Is this homemade?
Last years Christmas tablecloth and edging?

Jillian Rose Reed! Warning: UGLY shoes alert!
The top and skirt combo just doesn't work for me,
not with that crap hair and those 'comfy style'
elastic sandals! This outfit needs high stilettos
and a tight ponytail love.

Opps, this one's been to the loo and her dress
has got all twisted round! All the wrong bits
on display

Lil' Kim (who the F is she anyway?!) looking
hideous as always. Where the hell do I start?!
Do I even need to?! Ugh that tight gusset...!

..
