Beauty and the... bland?

She really is gorgeous isn't she. Cate Blanchett. Rarely puts a fashion foot wrong, never makes a silly faux pas, always chooses meaty acting roles that challenge her endless abilities.

Umm... I wonder what she looks like naked? How her boobs have held up (or not) after three kids... Did she have c-sections or does she have to work on her pelvic floor? Does she enjoy anal sex? Or prefer creamy plain vanilla?

But my biggest question (and yes, I know I am being shallow and mean, but, don't lie and tell me the thought hasn't crossed your mind!) is this - what the fuck does she see in husband Andrew Upton?!!!

I know looks don't count (actually that's bollocks, of course they do), and he may have been trim when they met, and yes, he's creative and a playwright and has intellectual talents, but, but, BUT!!!

Do they have an open marriage perhaps? Can they both take pleasure elsewhere as long as the heart stays loyal? Ummm. I wonder.

I mean, there are sooo many talented, sexy, handsome men out there... Just look at the hot actors Cate mingles with! The directors, scriptwriters... She must get tempted, she must!

Or maybe her aloof, cool ice queen demeanour scares them all away.

It's fascinating...isn't it?!

She's a better woman than me (in oh so many ways!) I would have dumped him after my first Oscar nomination and had a string of decedent, passionate, intense flings then settled down with someone who was my aesthetic equal...

wheels & dollbaby

I rather like these dresses by Sydney brand Wheels & Dollbaby. Very classic hourglass retro. The models aren't my 'cup of tea' (a bit too much porn star / biker chic vibe for me), but the dresses are lovely.

equestrian spice

On one hand it's good to see our Vic dress down for a change. She's off to the local ranch for an American style hack with her boys. She actually looks genuinely casual, wearing old jeans, thongs (?!) and no bra (as you do when you go riding...).

But on the other hand what a wasted opportunity for an elegant VB equestrian style get up. Riding boots, spurs, tight jodhpurs and a snappy crop! Maybe even a side saddle, hairnet and top hat!?!

Still that would have hidden the nipple bullets, and they successfully distract the eye from the awful riding hat/helmet. Dear Vic looks as awful in helmets as I do. I bet she gets sticky, sweaty dust under her boobs...

a cheaper option

As I'm unfortunately not rich enough for a closet full of Louboutin's, these new heels from Tony Bianco might ease the pain (a little)... Currently only available by pre-order, the Aero is my kind of shoe! High, classic, simple, hot! I love the thin gold metal ankle strap. Not sure how comfortable it'd be, but since when have I cared about comfort?! Pfft.

Order now for $179.95. I think I'll go the black for a change...

today I am wearing...

My new Gap dress! One of my (few) purchases from the UK. I miss Gap. I have done since living in Oz. A place chocka full of all your staple garments, from jeans to cardies and simple cotton summer dresses. This one is in soft, stretchy jersey and the top is double thick so I don't have to wear a bra (yay, no nipple show through). Today I'm keeping it simple and as it comes, but next time I think I'll add a thin red belt and wear my red Keds. I love it.

Strapless navy and white stripey dress from GAP, was £50, mine for £25.

the high leg

Oh Lordy no! Please tell me that high cut leg look is not coming back! Even Miranda is having trouble making this cozzie look nice! Some 80s fashion trends should stay in the archives!

I wonder who gets the job of applying fake tan to M's white bits...? Or maybe someone will miss out on that treat due to the wonders of photoshop.

today I am wearing...

I'm off to a lovely friend's 40th Birthday Party tonight. I find it bizarre that we're all getting to 'middle age'!

I'm wearing my favourite Myer Collection strapless LBD and sparkly Diavolina silver stilettos.

God, I have such a long horsey pin head! And I wish I had a 'camera face', I always look like a twat when I pose!  Here I am laughing at my inability to smile genuinely.  What a spaz.

today I am wearing...

I actually wore this yesterday, but in all the excitement of the Met ball I totally forgot to post my boring suburban house wife outfit. I must say, I don't think many of the celebs did the punk theme well. I'm surprised they didn't all embrace it a bit more. And so many awful shoes!!! But I guess for some thick black eyeliner and a couple of studs is enough. I would have gone for it big time. I love the punk era and indulged in a little of that myself (in my teens), ahh those were the days, shame I don't have more photos...
