today I am wearing...

It's a cracker of a day again. Hot, humid (thank God for talc between the legs to ease a sweaty gusset!) a big blue sky and sunny. 

I swam in the pool this morning and had a moment of quiet gratitude (are you getting ready to stick your finger down your throat?). It struck me that I actually have everything I want and that anything else is really just a bonus. I know this contentment won't last for long and is probably just my hormones releasing happy vibes, but it is true. I have a happy marriage, my husband is still fit and the same size he was when we married, I have two healthy, happy kids, I get a ridiculous amount of joy from my two fat cats, we have a boat, a nice house near the sea and live in one of the best countries in the world, in a place where the sun shines almost ever day of the year. I have a lovely group of honest girlfriends and a wardrobe full of gorgeous dresses and shoes (including my beloved Louboutins!!!). Yes, I could have a bigger house on the seafront with a bigger pool, designer furniture and newer, trendier cars, but the truth is, I don't need it. I'm happy. Yes it would be nice, but as I said, we do actually have everything that we set out to have when we left London and moved here. 

So for this glorious day, I am wearing as little as possible. It's too hot for clothes. This is an old Primark beach dress from years ago, with a pretty green flowery Gilly Hicks bra and my glass beads.

Yay! Tony Bianco have stilettos to lust over again! After almost a year of very disappointing, bloody ugly clunky shoes, the new season designs feature some beautiful heels. Hoorahhh! These are all on my wish list...

I haven't seen any real fashion clangers so far, on the BAFTAs red carpet. Not a huge selection of outfits to choose from, as there are never as many A grade celebs at the London gig. Still I think the actresses hit the mark nicely with these lovely numbers...

Seeing Pharrell Williams on the 'Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon' red carpet today (unfortunately I didn't attend in person), it suddenly struck me where dear Pharrell gets his style inspiration from!

Beauty and the... bland?

She really is gorgeous isn't she. Cate Blanchett. Rarely puts a fashion foot wrong, never makes a silly faux pas, always chooses meaty acting roles that challenge her endless abilities. 

Umm... I wonder what she looks like naked? How her boobs have held up (or not) after three kids... Did she have c-sections or does she have to work on her pelvic floor? Does she enjoy anal sex? Or prefer creamy plain vanilla?

But my biggest question (and yes, I know I am being shallow and mean, but, don't lie and tell me the thought hasn't crossed your mind!) is this - what the fuck does she see in husband Andrew Upton?!!!

I know looks don't count (actually that's bollocks, of course they do), and he may have been trim when they met, and yes, he's creative and a playwright and has intellectual talents, but, but, BUT!!!

Do they have an open marriage perhaps? Can they both take pleasure elsewhere as long as the heart stays loyal? Ummm. I wonder.

I mean, there are sooo many talented, sexy, handsome men out there... Just look at the hot actors Cate mingles with! The directors, scriptwriters... She must get tempted, she must!

Or maybe her aloof, cool ice queen demeanour scares them all away.

It's fascinating...isn't it?!

She's a better woman than me (in oh so many ways!) I would have dumped him after my first Oscar nomination and had a string of decedent, passionate, intense flings then settled down with someone who was my aesthetic equal...

I love Mix clothing. Shopping at Coles is no longer such a chore due to the anticipation of what new dresses may have come in during the week. 

This black jersey cowl neck racer-back dress was $19!  Bloody bargain.  It's so similar to dresses in Witchery for at least $100 more. Since buying it several week back I have worn it regularly, with or without a belt. I love it (and I don't need to wear a bra - yeeehaaa)!

I'm out to lunch in the city today, it's hot and sunny, so this dress is perfect.

The launch party was held at Marc Jacobs in London. Only Kate (looking like Bridget Bardot) could make that coat look good! A serious style icon is this little lady.

today I am wearing...

This is the forth and final dress purchased from the Supre $5 sale. A classic one shoulder black jersey maxi (that awful word again!). A bloody bargain. And it's the right length for me which is a rarity. Normally long dresses are way too long (because I'm a short arse) and I can never be bothered with re-hemming. Today I'm wearing the dress with thongs, but it'd be nice with heels too. 

I had a very quick browse in a few shops today, but there was nothing that caught my eye at all. So now I have that disappointed, I-wanted-to-buy-something-but-didn't sulky feeling. Ugh. All the shoes are awful too. Ugly, ugly shoes a plenty. It's not very often that I'm not longing for a new pair. It feels a bit odd not to be obsessing over a new pair of heels. Maybe because I have my beautiful Christian Louboutin Pigalles, I am complete... Ummm. Give it time...

I really like playsuits (hate the name, sounds like something a baby or a Playboy Bunny would wear), they are perfect for casual summer wear. I got this one yesterday at Cotton On for $19.95.  It's soft and light and comfy. I'll wear it a lot over the sunny season.

There are some really lovely ones around in the shops, casual or smart, and thankfully not all of them are designed for 12 year olds - by that I mean, so short that you need legs like a supermodel to wear one.

I love Amanda Seyfried in this Gucci black and blue polka dot skirt dress! I'm not normally keen on sheer skirts, but this dress is demure yet sexy and is perfect to promote a film like Lovelace. I love the simple strap heels too. And the red lips. Basically I love all of it! Can't wait to see the film either.

So nice to see the sun again today! To be able to shed the boring winter uniform of jeans and a long sleeve v-neck. I have a work lunch today, so wanted to wear a simple dress with a bit of colour. This is a new Leona Edmiston cowl neck twist dress, that I got off the Myer clearance rack for $40. I only bought it because it was on sale, but I had been on the look out for another Leona Edmiston dress, as I have a couple because they are so comfy to wear and wash so well (no ironing!). For shoes, I decided on my black suede Witchery sling backs that I bought a Christmas and haven't actually worn out yet! 

BTW have you checked out the Leona Edmiston nightwear? Well do, because it's gorgeous and so comfortable (if you like sleeping in nighties that is). I have a long slinky one that I love... and there is a sale on sleepwear at Myer at the moment...
