I saved money today. What a clever madam I am!  Yes I saved myself $154.95.  Okay, okay, I didn't exactly need my purchases, but, well, the kids went back to school today, so that means I get new shoes right?  And a new dress?  It's only fair. And they were on sale. So how could I not?

Today has been so beautiful and warm. Shame I couldn't have spent it lounging by the pool, instead of working. Never mind. It's the nearly the weekend - yay! My silky Portmans strappy sun dress and favourite glass beads has been the perfect choice for today. Light, cool and fine with heels (for work), then thongs for coffee catch ups and school runs.

Off to a dildo party tonight, so that'll be a laugh.

All the fun of Melbourne Cup is over.  No wins for me.  I never win because I don't gamble enough. I just can't abide losing money that I could have spend on shoes or dresses!

So back to work. It feels like a Thursday but it's only Wednesday...

today I am wearing (and weekend review)...

This weekend was a strange one to be honest.  It had ups and downs. I was (and still am) overjoyed with my new shoes (see post below), but had the strange experience of rushing my mother to hospital with a suspected heart attack. 

Spending several hours in the emergency room, in the early hours of the morning, after drinking half a bottle of delicious red wine, on top of a yummy Chinese meal, after the elation of my shoe purchase, was a tad surreal. 

One minute I was sitting relaxed and happy with my sister and mum, thinking about heading off to bed after a very satisfying day. The next minute I found myself sitting looking at my mum, all pale and weak and frightened in her white hospital gown attached to tubes and monitors, looking very small and flat in a metal framed bed, feeling very emotionally detached... I blame the bright white fluro lights and vast windowless room... I sat there thinking, 'How am I supposed to feel?' and then, 'This is the woman who gave birth to me, who has loved me and given me a wonderful childhood and shown me how to love and be a good mother'. Then, 'I hope it's nothing, so I can go to bed because I'm actually quite tired'.  Thankfully after an overnight stay and lots of tests, mum is fine. And I can get back to deciding what to wear for Melbourne Cup tomorrow!

Oh, yes, I am wearing my coral/orange Portmans dress with a sunny yellow belt and nude heels. I felt like I needed some colour today!

Work. I'm actually quite busy. So a serious work dress for today.  I normally wear this dress with a black belt and heels, but I thought I'd go for a bit of contrast.  I tried a few options.  I wanted to go pink, but I dunno, it just didn't work somehow... So cream it is.

Right back to it... I need to see a man about a dog...

choose my outfit...?

It's my niece's hen night on Saturday. I'm actually getting quite excited.  I went to a rather sleazy sex shop today (with quite a few men inside, very quietly browsing...) to buy some 'toys'... It'll be fun. We're all off to Sydney, to a penthouse near the harbour. After champagne and cocktails we're booked on to the Stallions Afloat stripper cruise and then on to a club later (the last time I went to this particular club was NYE '97!!!). The theme is pink... So, what does auntie-to-the-bride wear?

I need your help dear readers, to choose my outfit! I've been through my wardrobe and selected four (unfinished) pink outfits. I want to kind of blend in, so the young gals get all the limelight, but don't want to look like a boring old hag... (I want to wear my pettiskirt, because I love it and it feels so gorgeous and soft and flouncy on, but...).

So what to wear...?

today I am wearing...

I bought this Portmans dress the other day (on the sale rail!).  I love the bright tangerine/coral (?) colour. It came with a patent cream belt, but I think I'll try a different colour next time.  Mix things up a bit. But I love this style of dress (as you know), it suits my shape and is just the right length.

I'm looking very virginal today. Ivory everything. Nude wedges. Spring is in the air, and I'm feeling good! 

My good mood might have something to do with a cool present that my dear friends gave me this morning... oh the anticipation of what's to come later...! Remember my 'smile makers' post... well you get the idea.
