today I am wearing...

This is the forth and final dress purchased from the Supre $5 sale. A classic one shoulder black jersey maxi (that awful word again!). A bloody bargain. And it's the right length for me which is a rarity. Normally long dresses are way too long (because I'm a short arse) and I can never be bothered with re-hemming. Today I'm wearing the dress with thongs, but it'd be nice with heels too.

I had a very quick browse in a few shops today, but there was nothing that caught my eye at all. So now I have that disappointed, I-wanted-to-buy-something-but-didn't sulky feeling. Ugh. All the shoes are awful too. Ugly, ugly shoes a plenty. It's not very often that I'm not longing for a new pair. It feels a bit odd not to be obsessing over a new pair of heels. Maybe because I have my beautiful Christian Louboutin Pigalles, I am complete... Ummm. Give it time...

3 of the 4

This dress is a bit of a different look for me, but for $5, I thought I'd give it a go. This is item number three from the Supre $5 sale (see last weeks post). It's super dooper comfy on and I love that I don't need a bra, due to the low sides, so it's great for summer.

Little Miss L wasn't impressed though and asked if I'd do the 'drop and go' at school rather do than our normal walk into the playground for a kiss goodbye. I asked her why and she wouldn't answer. Then it suddenly hit me that she didn't like my outfit. I asked her if she was embarrassed by me, or what I was wearing and she just cringed and said, "I just don't want you to come in Mum!"

Bloody charming! Do all mothers embarrass their kids at some point?  Mine did because they were old, they stood out and I hated them coming to school. I never really thought I'd embarrass mine though, other than the normal growing up and not wanting to be seen hanging around your parents stage.  I said to Miss L, "Imagine if I was fat and wore ugly shoes and horrible frumpy dresses! Look around you - I'm a cool Mummy!".  She still wasn't impressed, just shrugged her shoulders and made me promise not to go beyond the entrance gates!

today I am wearing...

Happy Monday peeps. The weekend went way to quick. I gorged myself on too much food and over did it.  Lime and passion fruit cheesecake, custard filled profiteroles, crispy seaweed, and such a mouth wateringly good curry - yum! (Not so good the morning after when I felt like curry stench was seeping out of all my pores!)

To hide my gluttony, today I am wearing dress two (of four) from the Supre $5 Sale. This one is so super comfy on (and I don't need a bra which is always a bonus). I am fighting the urge to go back and see if I missed any other $5 bargain styles... I must stay strong. I don't need any more!

primal hunger or just an itch to scratch?

Lots of sex talk this weekend, discussing likes and dislikes. It's so bloody fascinating isn't it.  No matter how old you are, the evolution of needs, wants and preferences is just one of those topics I could discuss for hours on end. It amazes me what a huge spectrum there is, from prudish to extreme, and everything in between.

I have just finished reading Nikki Gemmell's I Take You. It was okay. Her books are getting a little repetitive and silly, but I read it quickly and it got me thinking about what is 'normal' nowadays. It also made me question my own preferences and what is and isn't off limits, because I hate think I'm missing out on something, but then again, I don't feel the pressure to 'explore' any more. I've been there and done most of it. I know what I like and what I absolutely don't. To be honest, I'm glad I'm not in that phase of my life where you have to experiment and challenge and push boundaries.

I guess the thing that I am most surprised by, is that age doesn't necessarily dampen a persons sex drive. I presumed, naively, that as you got older you'd want 'it' less, but from talking to others (people of all ages), that isn't the case.

supre sale

Supre is not a shop I frequent. Figure hugging, short, Lycra clothes for the under 30s - usually. Yesterday however, this was not the case. I happened to be at DFO (buying a fascinator for a Melbourne Cup lunch next week) when my eyes popped at the words Supre $5 SALE! Oooo happy days!!! It was a bit of a jumble inside the store, rack upon rack of dresses, but I still ended up in the changing room with about 16 things to try on! I came away with four dresses and a (hate the word) pant-suit! Perfect dresses for summer, including the one below. The other three are long. All jersey and super wearable. All $5! I'll post pics soon.

Brisbane ladies, get yourself down to DFO!

Opps! Should have sucked my stomach in - it looks like a fanny!

bloody ugly shoes

These shoes aren't aimed for women over 30, but unfortunately they will be worn by women who get sucked into what's 'on trend' and forget that it's actually about what looks good on them...

This seasons summer shoes are quite frankly ugly and are just way to reminiscent of shoes for people who have something wrong with their legs or feet (without wanting to sound mean about the disabled)... My English teacher at school, Mr Saunders, had not choice but to wear hideous shoes not dissimilar to these ghastly examples.  He suffered from Polio as a child, one leg was a lot shorter than the other, so had to wear a huge platform on one foot.  He was a cool teacher, everyone liked him, so no one took the piss, but those shoes... They are burnt into my memory. Uggghhh.

I will NOT be buying any of these My Tony Bianco.

If any of my dear readers are insane enough to like these you can buy them here.
