today I am wearing...

It feels like a wet London day.  Miserable again.  Fine drizzle. Everything grey.  Heavy watery sky. Not even a slither of blue up there. Two days of crap weather in a row is just too much. Come on Spring - hurry up and get here!

I wanted to wear boots today, and tights to keep my legs warm. So Tony Bianco heeled boots it is again, with my vintage lace ruffle dress with satin Marks & Sparks slip underneath. This dress is way too see-through to just wear a bra (for work anyway).

These boot are too tall for me really, or I'm too short for them.  I much prefer knee-high boots to finish a little lower.  I don't like the way they gape and look like wellies... but I was so excited to finally find a pair of stiletto heel boots, I figured I'd just have to live with them the way they are.  So I do...

island life...

I was totally miles away this morning when I had my morning shower. I actually think I might of still been sleeping, but with my eyes open, just moving along on autopilot, washing and enjoying the very hot water on my skin, fantasising about living a reclusive life on my own tropical island. I was so lost in it all, visions of me wafting around in a light Pucci kaftan, that I only came to when I was out of the shower and rubbing baby oil on my freshly shaved legs... only to discover I had only done one (leg)! Yes, I definitely needed that strong, double shot skinny flat white this morning!

The whole island thing came about at the weekend when we were looking at houses in North Queensland, with the idea of moving somewhere hot and steamy, where I never have to feel cold. Then I searched for islands for sale and up came my absolute idea of paradise. Double Island off Palm Cove in far North Queensland! For sale for a cool $8,000,000. Seriously, if I had the money, I would be negotiating the sale right now.

I love the idea of living like beautiful India Hicks (who lives in the Bahamas in her plantation-style home called Hibiscus Hill), designing things, raising my children and only venturing off the island to attend some cool party... Me, jealous?  Oh yes!

today I am wearing...

I thought I'd brighten up the dull drizzly morning by wearing some bright stripes! This is my new Review dress. Not normally my style, way too busy with the stripes all over the place, but what the hell - change is good right? Besides it feels really nice and floaty on, as it's satin lined and made from a delicate crepe fabric.

I've toned everything down a bit by wearing my faithful Tony Bianco nude heels, and a black cardie, as it's chilly out there!

today I am wearing...

It's the last day of the school holidays. I'm in advance mourning for the loss of lazy days at home. All to soon, I say goodbye to my morning lie ins till whenever, the leisurely breakfasts over celebrity news, the reading of a good book over coffee (while the kids play happily out of sight) and the days of just doing whatever...

Ugh. It's always a crapper, the start of the new term. I'm bracing myself for the morning rush and rant and sandwich making.

So today I am wearing grey... Grey jeans, grey v-neck jumper, black vest and my deceptively high Siren ankle boots (replacing my uggs worn around the house).

Tomorrow I will wear a dress.

boobs of the week award...

This weeks award goes to... the original beautiful Aussie supermodel...  The Body, yes, that's right, Elle MacPherson.  She does indeed have one hell of a body, and perfect pair of pert lovelies.

You have to hand it to Miss MacPherson, she's not just a pretty face.  Model, business woman, designer, presenter and mum. Top marks Elle!

caught on camera...

I've just finished reading Testimony by Anita Shreve. The story is told by various characters whose lives have been impacted, in some way, by a foursome caught on video at an elite private school, one of whom is underage. I enjoyed the book, it was an easy read and I found the subject, not challenging at all, but quite thought provoking. It raised questions about how something can snowball and become far bigger and far more damaging that it ever should be.

Teenagers, drinking, experimentation and sex. No amount of education and preaching is ever going to stop it. It's human nature to be curious and need to try things. To find out who you are... We have all done it. But the thing I do find scary, that is highlighted in the book, is that nowadays it can get caught on camera and subsequently uploaded onto the Internet, Facebook or whatever. The thought makes me shudder. I'm sure we've all done things we're not proud of, stupid acts or even fun things that you just don't want broadcast, but thankfully they can remain as just embarrassing (or pleasurable but secret) memories.

I didn't think too much as a teenager about what I was doing or the consequences. I was wrapped up in just having fun. Sometimes the more risqué or seedy the better. I didn't consider risks or feelings at all. And if drink was involved then it was a case of 'anything goes'. Easily discarded blurred photos where about as bad as any 'evidence' got.

I can't imagine how awful it would be to have footage of some of these events. To have parents, peers and strangers watch things that should be private. The fact is when you watch things, you can't help make a judgement on the people involved. But sometimes, like in this story, there can be a back story, an explanation that can somehow justify the actions, or it should simply just remain private act between willing participants.

I'm sure most of us have seen the excruciating Paris Hilton sex tape. It's not erotic at all and to be honest I wish I hadn't seen it. Not cause I'm a prude, but, I was just so embarrassed for her. She wasn't enjoying it, it wasn't about her pleasure, it was obviously not meant to be seen.  She must have been mortified when the tape first surfaced.  Not that it really did her any harm.  Any fame is good nowadays right?

It's my kids that I feel for.  I hope they get go through their teenage years unscathed by anything that could change the course of their lives...

kylie kool

I have a love hate relationship with Miss Minogue. I love her one minute. She gets on my tits and find her really annoying the next. Maybe I'm just jealous. I don't know what the (my) problem is...

Anyway today I love her. To celebrate her Glamour 2012 Woman of the Year Award, she features in the July issue (of Glamour) and she looks just peachy gorgeous! The stylish black and white photos by Simon Emmett are fabulous. And I think for once, she actually looks really quite sexy (normally I can't shake the girl-next-door thing).  She is a true  beauty however, with those classic Aussie girl looks that find so attractive.

Yep, this gets my stamp of approval. Maybe I'll go and stick on one of your songs... cause now 'I can't get you out of my head'...
